After some time the issue appeared again.
Voicemeeter Banana 2.0.4.1 freezes on headphones disconnect.

The issue seems to be vanished after updating Windows to 1803. Can't reproduce now.

The update might be ended not without other issues though.
Seems like I might need to reinstall VB Audio Cables - all the interfaces are visible in Voicemeeter, but only on KS interfaces sound is present.

I don't like to have many global hotkeys.
And I don't see it beneficial enough in this case to keep additional tools.
