System volume is increased on resuming Windows from hibernation

Post by Horned_Reaper »

When Windows is resumed from hibernation while VoiceMeeter runs the system volume is increased by 2 percent. This issue is reproducible.
A fix would be highly appreciated.

Hey there,

I am not one of the developers, but this sounds interesting and I would like to do some debugging.
By system volume, I presume you mean the Windows Volume Mixer? E.g. it goes from 80% to 82%? Am I getting that right?

For the sake of full information, could you list your reproduction steps as well as your Windows version information (a screenshot from winver.exe would suffice, use WIN+R to run it)?

Finally, which flavor of Voicemeeter are you running?

From here on, my plan is to do some live debugging with disassembly and see what causes your issue - if I cannot find it in the software front-end itself, I'll see if I can check the sound device drivers. I will then report the issue to Vincent.

Cheers,
Sam

Hello Sam,

thanks for your support, really appreciated.

Yes, the Windows Volume Mixer is one way to see the system volume level.

I use Windows 10 21H1, inlcuding the latest updates and Voicemeeter 1.0.7.8.

The issue is very easy to reproduce:
1. Check the system volume level e. g. 50 % (see attached screenshot).
2. Put Windows to Standby or Hibernate mode.
3. Resume Windows from Standby or Hibernate mode.
4. Check the system volume level. It is increased by 2 % e. g. 52 % (see attached screenshot).

I'm looking forward to your debug results.

Cheers
Manuel

we do not manage this parameter.
and it has usually no effect on Voicemeeter VAIO (implementing no gain inside).
only mute control should work.

Thanks for your reply.
That's strange.
There must be a relationship between Windows and the VoiceMeeter input audio device. I don't face this issue without Voicemeeter installed.
Can you reproduce this issue on your end?
