As soon as I run voicemeeter it acquires my camera and no other apps can use it.
And if I have the camera open in another app when I start voicemeeter, then voicemeeter hangs.
This is on Windows 10 Enterprise, 20H2, 19042.631.
This happens with a couple different cameras also.
Is there a way to configure voicemeeter to ignore a device?

it's up to you to select another output device in Voicemeeter.

and if you want to avoid Voicemeeter get exclusive access to a device,
simply select MME interface instead of WDM

The camera is not selected as either an input or output in voicemeeter since I did not want to use it thru voicemeeter.
My mic and speakers are connected thru a Motu M4 and I use a VB-cable to connect system sounds into voicemeeter.
When I run Check driver installation, the camera shows up in the list of 23 input devices and reports:

It seems that voicemeeter takes exclusive control of the camera even though it's not selected for input or output.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling both voicemeeter and the camera.

this is normally not possible.
could you please post a screenshot of Voicemeeter and it's system settings dialog box (in Menu).

When I first installed voicemeeter I didn't have this trouble.
I'm not sure what changed, but I think I received a windows update and I switched audio interface from scarlett solo to Motu M4.
But I didn't notice the camera trouble for a while, so I don't know what change caused it.

Just a side-note, you may also want to look at the configuration for the M4. I see it has a 'loopback' feature for routing audio from internal devices, so perhaps it is the M4 which uses the camera devices, when VM uses the M4.

well, accordign your settings, Voicemeeter does not use your camera.
and by using MME device, you are sure to get no conflict with other applciations willing to use the same device.
so, i've no explanation about your problem...

I don't have loopback enabled for the M4.
The most direct connection I can find is the as soon as I stop voicemeeter then the camera is available.
And starting voicemeeter makes it immediately unavailable.
My guess is that this is related to a recent Windows update that adds privacy setting for cameras.
I can't find a setting that I have made to cause this.
Once this Windows update becomes more widely used then maybe we'll see other cases.
