Voicemeeter Pro 2.0.0.5 (last test)

Post by Vincent Burel »

Last Voicemeeter Banana can be download here for test
http://vbaudio.jcedeveloppement.com/Dow ... _v2005.zip
Procedure : de-install previous version + reboot + Install new version + reboot.

The format negotiation with WDM devices has beend improved to get a better latency and be able to manage more devices (like Digitial DTS audio output devices). Voicemeeter PRO will try to open device in 24bits resolution (while Voicemeeter is still using 16bits per default) however it seems it is not possible to open WDM output devices in 24bits mode with exclusive access (so ASIO, KS device will be prefered to force using audio format).

Now we can use WDM device like Realtek Digitial Output (Optical...) configured in DTS. It seems this devices cannot be opened in Exclusive mode so the share mode is automatically applied with a bigger buffering of course.

Cassette now shows on the left the input levels (recording levels) according arming options (also shown on the right side).
Recorder get 2x new options :
- Play On Load to say if the audio file will be automatically played after loading it.
- Stop Record After Duration to automatically stop record after a predefined time.

Last point: MIDI Mapping proposes PTT option for STRIP MUTE controls (PTT = Push To Talk mode).

One feature that would be a great addition for those doing voice overs is to be able to record takes in mono in the cassette recorder. As a Microphone is typically a mono source and clicking Mono on the hardware input and being able to pic up mono recording as an additional option in the recorder would be the icing on the cake.

yes, next version will include a MONO switch on BUS . This has also been requested for simply output to single speaker... and it seems there is no option to do that with regular Windows audio tools or options...

This now allows me to utilize the Realtek Optical output! Is there any hope of the latency coming down on these WDM devices in the future or does it sound like we're stuck where it's at?

for the moment i do not see any solution to reduce buffering with audio devices configured in DTS mode.
