Voicemeeter suddenly underruning.

Postby blue lamb » Fri Jul 21, 2017 5:52 am

VoiceMeeter suddenly began underrunning, but was running fine hours before. Not sure what's causing it, using default system speakers works fine. Here is video, of current settings

I tried "Restart Audio Engine" no solution.

Other ideas would be welcome and thanks.

System:
Windows 10
i7 4770k
16GB RAM

Uninstalled and re-isntalled to version 2.0.3.4 and still having the same issue.

another update: switching from WDM to MME seems to solve it, though what's the reason? and is MME better to use anyway?

yes, in your case MME could be more stable than WDM.

Note your WDM device (for output A1) is used in SHARED mode ('S') whish is less stable than the Exclusive mode (for output device - input device are always openned in share mode per default). So maybe if you force your playback audio device to work in exclusive mode, this could work better.

The fact is that Voicemeeter is made to work 24/7 in an audio environement not validated to work 24/7... Windows system components as well as device drivers are not validated to work 24/7. So we can have weird behavior in some cases, with some interfaces, with some drivers, with some devices, after some hours: this can be CPU peak, unstable stream (robotic voice), stream stop, and in rare cases varispeed effect. In all cases we don't know where the problem is... (because Voicemeeter is validated on 5 days for audio stability and CPU load stability).

That's why we recommend for each audio configuration, to make a test on a significant duration to validate it.

yes its a shame. I had been using WDM for months through gaming, streaming, and recording, but out of nowhere it began to distort and underrun even with absolutely nothing running after a fresh restart.

Thank you for the answer.
