Mixxx and choppy audio

Post by aflove65 »

I am using Mixxx 2.0 and Skype for my internet dj radio show. I am having trouble with the sound crackling when I speak on Mixxx. The music sounds fine it is just whenever I speak. I am using Windows 10. In the Mixxx options I have for the input Voicemeeter Aux Output (Vb-Audio Voicemeeter Aux vaio) for output I have voicemeeter Aux input (VB-Audio voicemeeter Aux Vaio). My Skype options are Microphone: VoiceMeeter Aux Output (VB-Audio Voicemeeter Aux Vaio) Speakers: Cable Input (VB-Audio Virtual Cable) Speakers set to 24 bit 41000 hz Studio Quality. Here are screen shots of voicemeeter banana settings:

the first thing to check is on the microphone side.
for example by monitoring it on your headphone: switch A1 ON to hear yourself and see if your get the same cracking in the sound.
if it's cracking also on monitoring, then change audio interface for your microphone, try KS or MME...

If not cracking on monitoring, it means the problem is more on the connection between voicemeeter output (BUS B2) and Mixxx.
i guess Mixxx is connected to B2 while Skype is connected ot B1 ? right ?

could you post a screenshot of your Mixx Audio settings (and Skype audio settings too if you want)?

There is no static when I hear myself.

I'm not sure exactly how it is set up. They both work on B2 which I think is wrong. But this thing confuses me and I can't find step by step instructions for mixx and skype.

ok, i can propose you 3 possibilities that could solve the problem... that seems to be on way vmixxx get audio from Voicemeeter Virtual output.

1- Skype is using the same device as microphone than Mixxx. So you could try to select Voicemeeter VAIO (not AUX) for Skype microphone to see if it makes a difference
note in this case, Sjype will get audio from BUS B1 (think to switch ON B1 button to your mic and other source you want to send to Skype).

2- Mixxx is using Direct Sound Audio interface, maybe you should try other type, like MME for example to see if changes the problem.

3- internal latency of the Voicemeeter Virtual AUX is maybe too small for Mixxx, then you could increase the internal latency of the Voicemeeter VAIO AUX to 7168 (instead of 4096)
(see Virtual AUX I/O Control Panel in Start Menu / VB-Audio / Voicemeeter)

I think I have fixed it.

I did as you suggested with skype.
I changed from direct sound to windows- wdm-ks which seemed to fix it because now everything sounds very clear.
I was using Direct Sound because it was the only one that worked besides mme. I decided to try the others just to see what happened and the wdm-ks actually worked. :)
