VoiceMeter Audio Issues OBS

Post by RyanFoy »

So I love using VoiceMeter Banana to regulate my audio channels so that I can tune my sound to what I want to hear. The issue is that I am having a myriad of issues with other applications I.E. Steam, Steam Link, OBS, and my Windows Audio Panel. As well as audio not being detected unless I refresh the VoiceMeter.

Windows Playback Devices :

- I am proactive and move around a lot with my tower. I have different cords getting added and subtracted. Different audio devices automatically take control of my "Default Device" controls when they get plugged in when I already have the default set and it's getting to be to much. Is there a way to stop the auto take over?

- I have been disabling devices in the Sound panel but they just make a new slot if reconnected to the computer. Is there a fix for this?

OBS :

I would like to use Voice Meter to Stream but it may be interfering with the audio channels. I go into more detail and have images on this https://obsproject.com/forum/threads/au ... king.77542

So when I start my computer, I open Voice Meter, then open all my other programs including OBS. Some times audio in not picked up by OBS, or it is. On restart I get a random issue that I cant fix without a full restart then something else is broken.

I have completely wiped my computer, three times over the past 2 years of using Voice Meter and OBS. This issue has always been there and the reason for me not steaming ever. I really don't want to ignore it any more.

- I have this setup for Voice Meter :

- OBS :

- I have 5 Virtual Audio cables :

VB-Audio Port : Mic
VB-Audio Cable A : People (Discord, Teamspeak, ect...)
VB-Audio Cable B : Game Audio that can be set in game
VAIO : Music (Spotify using Equalify)
AUX : Defualt audio inputs (Windows and any other program)
A1 & A2 goes to my headset
A3 : VB-Audio Port (Going to any app that needs a mic input)

Discord and OBS both have the issue were they can't detect an audio input. What could be the issue?

I also sent an email to Vincent (Voice Meter Guy)

Steam :

- Steam does not detect my audio output for the virtual cable and can't be set up manually for some reason is there a work around?

Steam Link :

- Just got my Steam Link in yesterday and I am having a lot of fun be able to use my computer in different locations with out having to move it into the living room. But I am having issues with my audio channels relating to it. I can't seem to have the correct sounds go to the TV and have my mic transmit back to the PC. I will provide more information if needed.

Also have posts on different forums as well :

So I found an update to the OBS issue that may become more blatant about what I am doing wrong if I point this out. So as the image above shows my Mic/Aux 1, 2, and 3, the first Mic works fine for OBS because I would assume that it is just transmitting my communications to that line and shows it picking up. But if I have an audio cable transmitting my friends voices from Discord or TeamSpeak it will not pick it up on 2, or 3, but will show on the Desktop Audio 1, and 2. It may have to do with how audio can be used. Is there a work around for this issue? Or do I have no remedies?

between sickness and the holidays, even I missed out on checking on these forums.

I am surprised though. You have LOTS of cables and it just seems to me that it would be better to have every program use a specified audio rather than leaving it to "System Default" especially if as you say, the default tends to change often.

Another thing that I'd note:
When updating Voicemeeter Banana, usually I will have to go into OBS and re-assign each audio that was part of VoiceMeeter related to be properly on Voicemeeter. Not sure if it will help you out for that part.

I would imagine that what is happening is that audio is being intercepted which is why people in other voice chat programs are not hearing you even though the audio is working.

Keep in mind however, that for the audio to work, everything has to go through something. In this case, I would hope you're making sure you're using VoiceMeeter's audio as default sound for the sake of windows recognition, then using only the other vb cables accordingly.

Hope it helps. I know I'm not the dev, but just attempting to assist :)
