VB cable driver stopping randomly on Big Sur?

Post by jfkominsky »

I'm running into an issue where the virtual cable will just stop working. In the status manager, it will show a red-dot status, and when you expand it, it says everything is fine except "driver running". The problem is, I don't know how to force it to start the driver. Is there a button or a terminal command to make it work? I've managed to get it temporarily working by removing and re-installing the virtual audio cable, but then after a while it just went and turned off again.

It also doesn't show up in the system preferences audio menu when this happens, it's like it just doesn't exist, even though the status app says everything else is fine.

strange! Could you precise what is your MAC type and OS version
and give more information about the context... for example it stops working after how many time ?
when you restart your computer, does it work again ? for how many time ?
could you post a screenshot of the VBCABLEControlPanel when it happens ?
