Controlling A1 volume/pan, VAIO3 Volume, etc using Hardware Controller

Post by dizM0nkey »

I love the virtual mixer, but oftentimes I'm wanting a physical button to press. I've got some macros setup but nothing to tell me whether something is "off" or "on" with my current computer keyboard.

Would this midi controller pad w/buttons and knobs be able to be mapped to things like, say, a macro I've setup to mute my mic? That way, I can see whether it is on or off (because it has a light) without having to pull up the VM mixer. Or to change the volume of one of my mapped VA Cables and see the volume increase based on the number of lights? Or enable a specific EQ setting?

I'm fairly technical but have only ever messed with midi using a controller keyboard with Cakewalk or Fruity Loops.

Thanks in advance.

Hi. You definitely can use a MIDI controller with Voicemeeter. Voicemeeter includes a MIDI mapping which allows you to map any controller knob or button to some of the most common used functions (Mute, Solo, Fader Gain, Routing inputs to outputs). MIDI feedback will allow you to change the state of the buttons in the controller to reflect the status in Voicemeeter. You can find the details in Voicemeeter manual.

Thanks, Andres!

I did a fair bit of digging after I saw your response... here are some great tutorials / videos I found on YouTube for both the X-Touch Mini and nanoKONTROL2

nanoKONTROL2 & VM:

Couldn't find a specific video for X-Touch Mini and VM, but I'm sure it's a very similar experience, with a slightly different hardware layout / options. That said, I was impressed by the nanoKONTROL2 & VM video and am leaning in that direction for a solution.

Just posting this here for anyone else who might be looking for a midi controller hardware solution to integrate with VM.

Thanks!
