first point: check your VPN is a true VPN, not only a distant IP provider for internet browsing.
a true VPN provides local IP address to your computers and allows you to make a ping between them.

if the ping works, VBAN should work.

as far as i see, it basically works, but you got many error during stream (on the VBAN Receptor).

in this case, you may go in VBAN Receptor menu and decrease the NETWORK QUALITY parameter to MEDIUM or SLOW
