Voicemeeter Banana issue

Post by jmcinvale »

I have the following setup.

M Audio delta 192 PCI sound card

AKAI EIE pro USB sound card

Input

AKAI hardware input 1 ASIO input 1+2
AKAI hardware input 2 ASIO input 3+4
M audio hardware input 3 Line 1/2 WDM

Output

AKAI ASIO A1
M Audio WDM line 1/2 A2
M Audio WDM SPDIF A3

Here's the error I get.

Error on Physical input 3

Failed to Open Input Device: pAudioClient->Initialize return error -20042876480 (0x88890008)

How do I fix?

if you selected your M-Audio device as ASIO device for output A1
you may not use its input point as WDM in physical input 3
you may select nothing in physical input 3 and use the ASIO PATCH directly.

The only thing I selected as ASIO is the AKAI EIE pro as that's the only way I could use all four of the inputs on the AKAI.

I tried to do both cards as ASIO, but would only allow one ASIO.

The M-Audio card is set as WDM for its input and output.

Both the A2 and A3 outputs work for the M-Audio card though. Just not the input.

I can open the M-Audio control panel and see the input level meters responding to an input to the M-Audio card though.

The card did work with the regular voicemeeter program, but when I installed Bananna is when I had the input problem show up.

maybe a problem of driver installation then... check your audio device list.
check that all devices display the right name and right icon...

They all are installed properly.

Under the basic Voicemeeter program it worked fine.

the only difference between Voicemeeter Standard and others, is the format negotiation starting with 16bits for Voicemeeter Standard, 24bits for other version.

You may try to force the 16 bit resolution by the setting the registry value "preferredResolution" to 16 in
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\VB-Audio\VoiceMeeter

1- Shutdown Voicemeeter.
2- Change the registry.
3- Restart Voicemeeter.

I can try that but would the output of that card still work in 24 bit if the input won't?

voicemeeter banana or Potato first try to open de device (input or output) with 24bit format...
if not accepted it negotiates the format in 16bit. This negotiation is made for every audio points independently.

Oh ok.

Here's the specs on the card used.

Audiophile 192 Brief Specifications
Sample rates: 44.1, 48, 88.2, 96, 176.4 and 192 kHz from internal clock.
Analogue I/O: two inputs and two outputs, balanced/unbalanced quarter-inch jack sockets, maximum input level +14.2dBu.
Digital I/O: S/PDIF in and out on phono co-axial, sync'able to external sample rates from 32kHz to 192kHz, supporting AC3 and DTS pass-through, plus MIDI In and Out.
Converters: AKM 5385A dual-bit delta-sigma 24-bit/192kHz (A-D), AKM 4358 multi-bit 24-bit/192kHz (D-A).
Dynamic range: 113dBA (A-D), 109dBA (D-A).
Frequency response: ±0.5dB, 20Hz to 80kHz at 192kHz sample rate.
THD + noise: 0.0006 percent (inputs), 0.0023 percent (outputs).

Now if I set the audio defaults in the windows audio control panel to that card, the inputs then work as they should. Also when using Voicemeeter Banana as the defaults, the inputs on the Delta 192 will show a signal in the Delta 192 control panel, but it just won't work with Voicemeeter Banana.
