The registry key was there for me.
My WDM speakers work, but I get lots of crackling/distortion.
MME works fine though. This happened right after I applied update 1903.
ANy ideas?

I experience the same problem. I have yet to successfully use voicemeeter with google hangouts. No audio from me goes to the call.
