No sound in some apps with Potato version.

Post by Declider »

No sound in some apps with Potato version. (apps like Zoiper, Davinci Resolve, and other). If Potato show all connected apps and we can change they volumes right in Voicemeeter, but no-sound apps dont show in Voicemeeter.
Situation with Davinci Resolve, for example: i choose Voicemeeter Input/aux input/vaio3, and Davinci show me waveforms, like he do this sounds, but it dont go into Voicemeeter. How to fix "unconnected" voicemeeter with apps?
Sorry for my English

Can you hear and see it with Voicemeeter Banana?
Potato setup installs also Banana automatically.
Inside the Voicemeeter program folder -> voicemeeterpro.exe (that is Banana).
-> Close Potato
-> Run Banana

Voicemeeter Input / Aux Input also dead in Banana?

Important:
Use "DirectSound: Voicemeeter Input / Aux" instead of "Voicemeeter Input / Aux" if you can!
This will fix it.

So, this problem is not a problem of Voicemeeter/Potato.
It is problem of the programs/apps you are using if these do not use DirectSound.
You have to ask the developers of these apps, why these cannot connect to Voicemeeter correctly.

The problem is, that there is one or more other programs/apps running in the background that were started before your noSound apps that use the same Voicemeeter Input.

If you cannot use DirectSound you can fix your problem only by closing all other background programs/apps that use the same Voicemeeter Input.
Since you have 3 VAIO virtual inputs in Potato that should not be impossible.

So it is important that your app is the only one that use the specific Voicemeeter Input!
The same is true if you use VB Virtual Cable.

So, if you can use DirectSound!

Hmmm... I dont know, how to describe it right. It didn't work, i read your advice with Banana version, and it works with it! And after it i close Banana and start Potato again, and it works too! I dont know how, it seems like Potato and DaVinci "connected" through Banana version, and sound works with ANY input channels! Thank you for advice!

Good that it now works the way you want.
Are you sure that you have not closed another audio related program/app before you started Banana (maybe some minutes or even hours before)?

I had once a similar problem like you.
I had opened two parallel instances of DVBViewer. Both connected to Voicemeeter Input. One instance blocked the other one and its audio connection. This way I have learned to use DirectSound based connections to avoid this kind of blocking.

yes, if an application get exclusive access to a playback device (VB-CABLE input or Voicemeeter virtual Input), this playback device could not work for other applications. As suggested, MME or DirectX audio interface do not use exclusive access.
