awful sound quality from Vaio 3 asio in Reaper

Post by john9dpr »

When I import an audio file into Reaper and use the Focusrite 2i2 asio driver I get wonderful audio output with the buffer set to 256 samples.

However I would like to play the file from Reaper through Voicemeeter (as proof of concept) so ,with the Focusrite driver as A1 in Voicemeeter Potato and with Reaper using Vaio3 Asio, I route Vaio 3 virtual through A1. The audio is truly awful sounding as if the singer is gargling at the same time. I tried increasing the buffer but even at 1024 samples there is little improvement in the audio. I don't know whether the fact that I am using the 64 bit verison of Reaper is a factor! Can anyone give me any advice please.

TIA
John

Focusrite ASIO drivers are known for inconsistent reliability issues, also in conjunction with other applications besides Voicemeeter.
