How to best sync the hardware INPUTS into the composite Bus for 6 track recording

Post by saccentekennedy »

HI there,

Is there any way to better sync up the hardware inputs for the composite bus? I am finding that the 6 tracks are out of sync - but not just out of sync a steady amount, but an amount that keeps shifting back and forth. I am trying to use VoiceMeeter to make scientific measurements of 6 streams of audio data from 3 identical USB sound cards, but I can't figure out how to sync them.

I know that this is likely a limitation as this is what high-end audio cards with ASIO inputs do... but I've even tried to play a square wave across all inputs at the same time and try to use this to sync up... it's just it's back out of sync again later on. I am probably talking about a difference of about 10 milliseconds (now that I say it, it actually sounds like very little, but in voice research it can be a lot...)

Any ideas?!

normal, you cannot striclty synchronize 2x audio devices without wordclock link.
you can just optimize latency (on the Voicemeeter Main Stream) to reduce the time sync difference between audio devices.
