No audio through VBAN but chat and ping pass.
No audio through VBAN but chat and ping pass.
Hi all !
I need to use VBAN over the internet. I opened UDP ports 6980 in both routers, chat and ping do work, but there's absolutely no sound coming through. I tried both Voicemeeter and Banana, tried different destinations (A1, A2, A3, B1, B2...), tried entering destination public IP address and domain name instead, tried “Restart Audio Device", but nothing works... I made sure that VB-Audio entries are enabled in windows firewalls on both PCs.... Local audio plays back fine on both PCs.
I'm pulling my remaining hairs for this in desperation.... What can possibly be the cause of this?

typical problem of Firewall .... check your firewall on both side, windows firewall first. Think also about some anti-virus or anti malware service that can add some additional firewall.
Re: No audio through VBAN but chat and ping pass.
What exactly should I check in Windows Firewall? There are several entries for VB-Audio and, I believe, Voicemeeter. And they are all green (enabled). Should I also add a UDP Port 6980 in Windows Firewall without specifying which program it should be mapped to?Vincent Burel wrote: ↑Mon Dec 05, 2022 9:19 am typical problem of Firewall .... check your firewall on both side, windows firewall first. I tried disabling Malwarebytes Anti-Malware that I have on both PCs, that didn't help.

ok, so in this case, you may post screenshot of your VBAN Dialog box for both points to let me check your VBAN configuration.

ok, i guess you have checked the topic about VBAN on internet here:
viewtopic.php?f=9&t=479
REM: outgoing stream NET QUALITY does not need to be set in SLOW mode (you can keep on OPTIMAL).
you can right click on INFO column on outgoing stream to check it uses the same UDP port (6980).
if you don't find an option somewhere related to UDP stream quota or traffic limitation,
you will have to use WireShark or Network Monitor app to see if you really receive the VBAN packet on PC2

Yes, I read that first.Vincent Burel wrote: ↑Tue Dec 06, 2022 8:08 am ok, i guess you have checked the topic about VBAN on internet here:

I tried all net quality settings.Vincent Burel wrote: ↑Tue Dec 06, 2022 8:08 am REM: outgoing stream NET QUALITY does not need to be set in SLOW mode (you can keep on OPTIMAL).
Does the port that we should enter in VBAN window represent the port of the remote computer, or this port of this computer?
Re: No audio through VBAN but chat and ping pass.
What does this error message mean? I need to stream bi-bidirectionally, i. e. from PC1 to PC2 one stream, and from PC2 to PC1 another stream. Should I set different ports on each PC? No other programs use this port. Is there a chance that two instances of Banana are running at the same time?
