May I suggest looking into the new SRT protocol, available from Haivision. I have used encoder/decoder combo to send 720p Video/Audio over public internet with no loss...it is an amazing protocol that I believe Haivision has open sourced?

NDI protocol support would be cool to, as a lot of local, professional AV devices are starting to support NDI for high def audio over LAN and can integrate directly with equipment like NewTek Tricaster (where NDI originated) etc....but I think for over internet use, SRT would be for you!

I've been using VBAN streaming over the internet for quite some time now. I am in a network with 1gigabit up/down, as are the folks I talk with.

We have in the region of 90+ % of the claimed throughput always, and around 6ms ping time between us.

The VBAN streams have started acting up, with hickups and error lights lighting up frequently. Even on "very slow" the problem persists.

Only when we all reset VBAN (or ctrl-r restart audio engine) the problem goes away (for as long as it lasts). And we can again use fast/optimal.

It will typically run well for a few hours and then the problems re-appear, we reset, and so on.

We all have fairly modern PC's and wired internet, running up to date versions of Windows 11.

Is there something we can check on VBAN side to see what causes this? Or should we run wireshark session? Any ideas are welcome, as the issue is becoming increasingly irritating.

No other issues with Voicemeeter (potato). It's the solution that should have been part of Windows! Amazing piece of software!

assuming you are using latest Voicemeeter version. You may check your output A1 device (or select another one or select another audio interface ASIO, WDM, MME...) to find a more stable audio config i guess...

for more help, you may post screenshot of your voicemeeter system settings dialog box.

I use a Behringer XR18 air, ASIO driver, default settings.

All audio works flawlessly, only VBAN stutters sometimes.

But I've found a post regarding power save settings on the ethernet card, and disabled it, as did the folks I talk with. Haven't had issues since (1 day so it may be too short to tell).

yes, right, some network option could help too.
but if the problem comes back, you may change your ASIO device buffer size to 256 sample (instead of 128).

I've tried setting this when the problem on incoming streams existed, no change at all.

Usually it's only ONE of the incoming streams that suffers, needing a reset on the remote side to solve it. During this time the other incoming streams run just fine.

So... I don't believe it's the ASIO buffer setting causing the RX stream to stutter.

if you get the problem with only one stream, while some other are running ok,
maybe it's because this last stream is reaching the bandwidth limit somewhere in your network ?
