According your current internal latency (7168 samples) the cable can consider counting error if the buffer size (used by connected app) is above 7168 / 3 = 2389 . You may check what buffer size is used by your player application (must be 2048 max usually).
This is potential source of problem, but can work in your case, because your internal samplerate is 44.1 instead of 96 kHz, so reduce the final number of sample by SRC, so finally can work correct.
