Screensharing Problem with VB-Audio Matrix

Post by Tekkerue »

Hi all,

I’m trying to get VB-Audio Matrix to play sound from DaVinci Resolve Studio using ASIO over Watch2Gether for screen sharing, but I cannot get it to work. I’ve also tried Zoom but cannot get this to work either.

I’m on Windows 10 Pro and have an Audient iD14 audio interface.

In Matrix, I created a virtual audio cable and routed it to my interface under Windows Device inside of Matrix. In Resolve I selected the virtual cable as my output. In Windows Sound the Audient 1/2 is selected as my default sound device. Here are screenshots of my full setup:

Windows Sound:

Everything works on my end, I get sound out of Resolve and it plays through the default Windows Device, so it seems like this should work.

However, when I go to Watch2Gether and try to screenshare with audio I get an error:
“The device could not be activated. Please check the permissions by clicking on the lock symbol next to the address bar.”

When I try to connect to Zoom I get an error:
“Failed to detect your speaker. Please make sure your speaker is properly connected.”

If I close Matrix and use “System Audio” as the output in Resolve, then it plays through both Watch2Gether and Zoom. However, due to a bizarre complication with Resolve and an audio plugin (outside of the scope of my question) in order to get the plugin to work I do have to use ASIO as the output from Resolve. So I need to route the ASIO output from Resolve to the system audio and have that work through Watch2Gether or Zoom (if I can get Zoom working then Watch2Gether should also work).

Any help in getting this figured out would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

you may use Matrix VAIOs (and activate the related slot) to manage windows audio.
every audio source should pass into matrix, if you want to manage sound in rational way.

otherwise you may get audio conflict, for example application could not be able to use the device selected in WIN1.OUT slot.
