Can't hear anything after installing on Win10

Post by OnlyOne »

On Win7 VB-Cable worked just fine, after upgrading to Win10 it doesn't work. I hear nothing from my headphones after setting it as the default device in Sounds settings.

My purpose is only to enable Stereo Mix recording which my latest hardware does not support, but I don't know what I'm doing wrong now.

Help?

you may have probably forgotten to use the windows LISTEN option to listen to the output of the cable.
(to route the cable recording device to your headphone thanks to Windows option in device properties).

The fact is that VB-CABLE is just a cable to connect 2x applications together, a player to recorder one.
if you want to do more, you may use Voicemeeter or Voicemeeter Banana.

I forgot that the first time when I installed it on Windows 7, not this time. The option is enabled. Not only do I not hear anything but nothing gets recorded either.

I don't want to do more, I want to do exactly what I could before I upgraded my OS.

seems to be normal, but you have nothing connected to the VB-CABLE output and your listen option makes no sens.

if you want to listen the recording device (VB-CABLE output), you must route it to a physical device (not to VB-CABLE input again, since it is your default playback device).

I tried that, it didn't change anything.

You said it seems to be normal, but it clearly isn't. Can you help me troubleshoot this?

change your listen option to route the VBACALE output to your physical speaker or headphone.
post a screenshot of the CABLE output properties dialog box, to let me see.

Interestingly, after updating my drivers I now see Stereo Mix as a recording device, but tragically it doesn't work. This is why your program is so important.
