Setting to MME appears to pass the base 7.1 signal through but not the Atmos - as mentioned I only see Dolby Surround displayed on the AVR which is not full Atmos. If I bypass Voicemeeter and go straight to the AVR I get Atmos displayed on the AVR.

Any ideas I can try here? MME doesn't pass Atmos but does pass 7.1 surround according to the sound mode display on my AVR.

It just occurred to me that I have had other audio software installed on my system that hooked into voicemeeter. - specifically EqualizerAPO and Husevi headphone surround software. I have uninstalled them but perhaps there is something left over that is interrupting the bitstream process and decoding on the pc instead of the AVR.

Would you have any troubleshooting tips to locate residual drivers/hooks/plugins that may be left over?

Or a way to test / display the audio stream details being fed i to VM and what comes out of VM to compare and test if some sort of decoding is happening in software instead of the AVR?

well, i don't know exactly if Dolby Atmos can be maanaged like 7.1 PCM in Voicemeter...

should read this about a problem with Dolby Atmos too...
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/window ... 531msgdesc

very difficult to get information about audio on Windows...

The problem is your having the computer doing the processing. Not the AVR.
Not sure if it is possible with Voicemeeter to let the AVR do the processing. I wondered about this as well.

Is bitstreaming possible with VM? I doubt it.

no Voicemeeter manages PCM signal only.
like 5.1 or 7.1, Atmos must be PCM decoded on the Voicemeeter inputs.

@vincent - are you saying that VM will decode any atmos stream that gets directed to it? If you are then that is I don't see atmos at the AVR when I have VM as my default device.

sure the Dolby Atmos is not in our possible playback device setup,
like Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital EX, Dolby Digital Plus or Dolby TrueHD are also not in our possible preferences

because on our virtual audio input device, we are expecting 6 PCM channel for 5.1 setup and 8 PCM channels for 7.1 setup. that's it.
