VMB looses driver setting

In VMB the Input 1 is set for an external soundcard, SPL Crimson.
When unused, after say 15 minutes Input 1 'forgets' its connection.
After pulling down the driver menu, re-clicking on the specified driver activates the input again.
What do I miss?
