Voicemeeter affects network speed (VBAN OFF)

Greetings,
I have a weird one here and I have literally only seen one random post on the internet in which someone exhibited these same exact symptoms.
Long story short I have gigabit internet. When I run a speed test with VM Potato/Banana open, I will get around 450-500 Mbps, when I close it and redo the test, instantly back up to 950. Every single time.
My pc is a bit older but still has a 6700k and 16GB ram. No background programs open (believe me I made sure to close everything that could potentially cause network interference) and the only thing that affects this speed so much is VM. And I have never touched VBan...monitoring task manager performance my PC is definitely not straining as far as network/cpu/memory usage. And I'm just a bit intrigued as to what may be causing it, anyone experience something similar?
