suggestion/wish: Recording with "auto-pause" and "auto-save"

Dont know if it is technical possible:
I record a lot and need to remove the silence of any audiofile. Would it be possible, that the recorder makes a little buffer (0.5 sec) and goes into "auto-pause" if theres no sound (as editable value p.e. -20 dB) in the buffertime? And if sound is recognized again, the recording continued and makes this 0.5 seconds buffer as silence for cutting purpose into the file. so i save myself the work removing silences longer than 0.5 seconds of the file.
Also i wish me a kind of "auto-save-file" all x minutes of recorded stuff. after reaching the value the recorder should automatically save the file and go on recording into a new file.
