Stereo not working on headphones

I have a pair of bluetooth headphones from Aftershokz.
These connect (obviously) by bluetooth, and have two connections, one which is stereo and one which is a hands-free headset.
The hands-free works fine for both playback (in mono) and using the built-in mike, but I can't get the stereo to work using Potato.
I disabled Potato, and was able to verify that the stereo connection works fine (I use another program called EarTrumpet to control the output from programs to devices).
This is more than a little annoying.
I've tried deselecting the mike from Potato, yet even when I reselect the stereo output, it doesn't do anything
Any ideas or suggestions?
