I have successfully sent audio and chat over VBAN, but I have not yet had any success with MIDI over VBAN.
My goal is to have MIDI devices in another room send their output over the LAN to the central DAW (Reaper).
The networked audio via VBAN provides a good audio signal the player can listen and play to.

Re: MIDI Keyboard over VBAN to DAW?
OK, I now have MIDI coming in over the VBAN from the remote PC with the MIDI keyboard to the centralized PC with the Reaper DAW.
But how to connect to it from the DAW?
Is this a stream in the matrix that i need to map to an ASIO? ...or?

Re: MIDI Keyboard over VBAN to DAW?
As a note, RTP-MIDI (another open standard for transmitting MIDI over the network) works fine directly into the DAW.

Re: MIDI Keyboard over VBAN to DAW?
MIDI is not implemented to be fully routed from device to another and we are not providing any virtual MIDI device so this is complicated to use VBAN Midi in all use case.
The main current use case with VBAN-MIDI is to transport MIDI from a physical device (e.g. controller) to Matrix MIDI mapping (or Voicemeeter MIDI mapping).
to transport MIDI from an application to another is not very possible if these applications are not implementing VBAN-MIDI.
VBAN2MIDI can convert VBAN-MIDI to physical MIDI device but it's not very practical too for your case i guess...

Re: MIDI Keyboard over VBAN to DAW?
Thank you for responding.
The issue/need/problem as depicted in the graphic is common in the recording industry.
The audio is out synch with the user playing to it....their inputs are effectively delayed in the resultant VBAN audio.
It seems to me that adding the RTP-MIDI protocol would be a significant value add, especially if synchronized to the clock.
Enumeration of MIDI devices (another device section in the matrix) would allow for the creation of RTP-MIDI sessions by selection in the matrix.
Deep thoughts

in your case, where you want to get MIDI message directly in Reaper (central DAW)
or you ask to Reaper guys to implement VBAN-MIDI (which is very easy to do).
or you wait we provide a Virtual MIDI device to connect Reaper on...
