Need help with Recorder

Post by jimmy213 »

Sometimes I want to capture my voice along with my friends' when we're talking (through discord, skype, etc.). When I listen to the output file, my friends' volume (system sound) is at normal levels but my voice level is too low.
When I record my voice in Audacity, the volume of the output file is fine.

My settings.

All the other options are the default ones. Also I'm using WDM, but I tried KS and MME with the same results.

Am I doing something wrong? Is there another option I need to enable?

when you record pre-fader inputs, you record a neutral mix of the selected sources, captured on pre-fader input. it means before FX and before gain slider. Pre-fader input recording is made to get original audio sources.

if you want to record what you hear, or what you mix, you have to select POST FADER OUTPUT (meaning the output of a BUS).
Then you can record your monitoring BUS (usually A1), but you can record a not monitored BUS (for example A3 - connected to no device). then you can define a MIX just for the recording (that is practical since the A1 monitoring often excludes your own voice).

I didn't think of that. You're right. I tested it last night and now everything is perfect.

Thank you very much.
