Post Processing for Dolby 5.1

Post by aspen1135 »

Hi there. I am using the latest stable version of voicemeter banana. I am trying to get post processing enabled on all 5 speakers so that I can compensate for my room acoustics and small speaker drivers on my 5.1 setup.

I have already accomplished this by using an Omni-directional microphone, some analyzer tools and a sine sweep. In voicemeter, I used an AUX insert channel along with Minihost Modular and a few different plugins that I normally use in my DAW to do the precision editing. And now my ordinary stereo tracks such as music are fantastic (Especially when upmixed to stereo-repeat or 6.1).

However, whenever I launch a movie or game that actually has dolby support (I.E, encoded tracks so you get full-directional sound, not just repeated sound), I can't get it to output the 6 channels other than just an ordinary stereo mix. I can see it passing the full 6 audio channels into the aux channel, but I cannot get Minihost to recognize any of the independent channels. Minihost supports multiple inputs and outputs. But the channels 1-2 (stereo) are the only ones passing audio into the output. Channels and 3-10 (the one's I tested before giving up last night) do not get signal.

Note: I have also passed the channels straight into the channel outputs, which would bypass the 2-channel limit that these Stereo plugins would normally downmix the input into.

I understand this may be an issue with Minihost. But I was also wondering if voicemeter banana is even compatible with 5.1 audio on aux or insert channels. And if it's compatible, what's the best way to do this?

I have included snapshots for reference. Thank you for your time.

to make a pre-fader insert processing , you should connect your VST HOST to the Voicemeeter Virtual Insert ASIO driver.
see this video tutorial about this : https://youtu.be/pDi0Tn2QxXE
