Voicemeter Banana 2.1.1.1 conflict with Xonar DX Audio Center

Post by TOOUUR »

Hello, any suggestions on where there might be a conflict between 2 pieces of software?

Once I install the new Vocimeter and reboot Asus Xonar Audio Center never starts and gives me an error "can't find any device" even though the device is present in the systems and playback is ok.

Once I uninstall Voicemeter, Xonar DX Audio Center is loading ok. By now I disabled VB-Audio Voicemeter VAIO in the device manager which also helps but would like to use both simultaneously. Once Xonar DX Audio Center is on and I reenable Voicemeter everything works ok, but if I exit Xonar Center then I will not be able to start it again.

So, to my mind, there is definitely a conflict and Voicemeter somehow blocks/prevents the Asus component from loading but I can not figure out in which way. Appreciate any input on this.

The only reason i can see is the audio device conflict. Voicemeeter output A1 is using the same device than DX Xonar center for example.

The only thing I can see in device manager events is:
For ASUS

Code: Select all

Device PCI\VEN_13F6&DEV_8788&SUBSYS_82751043&REV_00\5&df652e&0&2000DC was configured.

Driver Name: oem172.inf
Class Guid: {4d36e96c-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}
Driver Date: 06/02/2015
Driver Version: 8.1.8.1823
Driver Provider: ASUSTeK
Driver Section: CMPCIX64
Driver Rank: 0xFF0001
Matching Device Id: PCI\VEN_13F6&DEV_8788&SUBSYS_82751043
Outranked Drivers:
Device Updated: false
Parent Device: PCI\VEN_10B5&DEV_8112&SUBSYS_00000000&REV_AA\4&1fbc7869&0&00DC
For Voicemeter

Code: Select all

Device ROOT\MEDIA\0000 had a problem starting.

Driver Name: oem143.inf
Class Guid: {4d36e96c-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}
Service: VBVoicemeeterVAIOMME
Lower Filters:
Upper Filters:
Problem: 0x0
Problem Status: 0xC00000E5
Can it be because of Class Guid is the same for both devices or not related at all?

Voicemeter A1 was using Focusrite ASIO
Also, this was not an issue all these years with the previous versions, the last one used being 2.0.6.8 - was it a big change in how Vocemeter is installed into the system?:)

ok, so what is your default playback device and what device is used by DX Xonar center ?

Voicemeeter 2.1.1.1 installs our audio driver exactly like before... but maybe you did not reconfigure all your applications audio settings with the right device and pin name as it is explained in this topic: viewtopic.php?t=1874

if you install Voicemeeter 2.1.1.1 and think it should work like with the previous version, it's not good because the virtual audio driver has been changed, so you have to reselect it in all application using it.

My default device is Asus Xonar DX - https://www.asus.com/us/supportonly/xon ... _download/
My second device is Focusrite Scarlett

Both work ok in terms of sound production, with Voicemeter 2.0.6.8, with Voicemeter 2.1.1.1 and without voicemeter at all. It is just software related to Asus Xonar DX which fails to open after reboot after Voicemeter 2.1.1.1 installation.

I understand that I need to reconfigure the devices which were used with the old Voicemeter but well, I have just checked it, I used it for Discord and OBS, and the device was reset to default there on its own (which is Asus Xonar DX) which is expected to me.

So, again the issue is - I install Voicemeter 2.1.1.1 and at this point, Asus Xonar Audio Center works. I reboot to finish the installation and then it fails. I uninstall and Asus Xonar Audio Center works again (yes, even before reboot).

Completely puzzled by how Virtual Audio Driver could interfere with Asus software so that it couldn't detect its own card.

I am quite desperate for a solution but hope that one of the future releases will somehow fix that
