Problems using Tascam US-4x4HR

I have recently bought a Tascam US-4x4HR interface and have problems using it in Voicemeeter Potato and Banana. When I set A! output to the interface, using US-HR Series Asio Driver, it works in Voicemeeter on all 4 inputs and I can hear it through the outputs. However it does not work in the recording software (Wavelab 11 and Studio One 5.5). Both of these programs work fine if I close Voicemeeter. If I then re-open Voicemeeter it flashes on the output to A1 and does not pass signal.
I have been using Banana for a few years now with other Asio devices (Presonus) and never had a problem.
Is there something I've overlooked?

if your ASIO driver is not "multi Client", you may simply connect your other DAW to Voicemeeter virtual ASIO driver.

Thanks for your reply VB.
I will try your suggestion today, however both DAWs work at the same time using the same Asio driver, its only when voicemeeter is on that the problem arises.

ok, so while Voicemeeter is using the ASIO driver, maybe no other application can get access to it ...
that's why Voicemeeter provides Virtual ASIO driver to connect your DAW to Voicemeeter.
the Virtual Potato ASIO Insert driver is recommended for recording workflow with a DAW, because you get access to all Voicemeeter input channels (pre-fader).
