Denoiser adds latency - 3.0.2.5

I've installed Potato 3.0.2.5. (deinstalled 3.0.2.2, rebooted, installed 3.0.2.5, rebooted)

I use a Behringer XR18 air via it's ASIO driver with VM potato (all @ 48kHz). A microphone is connected to an input for the XR18 air. I send the mike to the stereo out of the Behringer. That stereo out is sent to Voicemeeter.

Immediately, I noticed a delay which is an order of magnitude bigger than the delay I had with 3.0.2.2. I did check the "Buffering ASIO" setting, and it was at 128 like I had done with 3.0.2.2. I tried some variations, but there was no improvement. I checked, and had no sound effects on in VM or in the Behringer.

When routing the mic signal back from VM to another input of the Behringer and adding that signal to the stereo send, I heard an echo.

When I do the same with 3.0.2.2. this yields a feedback loop (loud shreek). So this leads me to believe 3.0.2.2. has a much lower delay (latency) than 3.0.2.5.

Went back to 3.0.2.2 (reboots and all) and the delay is gone.

The delay on 3.0.2.2 is unnoticable, and on 3.0.2.5. it's annoying, especially in situations where you also listen to the end mix on a headset.

Could this be a bug where the buffering is set incorrectly?

For the rest, I like what I see in 3.0.2.5. The C5 multiband is amazing. Button color is awesome. I do have some feedback and questions on 3.0.2.5. but that's for another post. And perhaps I should post elsewhere? (if so, where?).

Cheers,
David

you might be more precise on your workflow: especially the audio path (where you listen more latency).
because we have changed nothing regarding the ASIO driver management for output A1

The audio path now is:

Microphone connected to an XR18 air input (XLR). I'ts fader sends the signal to the XR18 main stereo out. Stereo out is sent over ASIO to Voicemeeter.

That gives more latency in the latest release (candidate) of Voicemeeter.

To check if it was my output to headphone causing the latency (connected to headphone out of my motherboard) I did route back the audio over ASIO to the XR18 as a USB input, and sent that to main stereo as well, causing a loop.

That loop has echo on the latest version instead of feedback shreek on the release version, ruling out latency in my headphone channel.

I'd like to provide more details, but what details are you looking for?

In the above setup I had spotify feed audio to the XR 18 and the XR18 sent that back to Voicemeeter.

Obviously in my tests I used the microphone on channel 7 of the XR18.

Looping the audio is a matter of sending the audio coming from the XR18 on VM's hardware input 3, to output A1.

this workflow with ASIO device has not been changed.
the only way to add latency in the new Potato version is to use the denoiser on your microphone strip (is your denoiser knob on ZERO ?).

Ahhh... spot on!

It was indeed the denoiser that was adding some delay. It never registered with me that the denoiser and the delay were related.

Thank you very much!
