Switching to ASIO driver causes Voicemeeter Banana to freeze
Hello,
Up until now I was using ASIO4ALL with my amp (Sennheiser GSX1000) but I just got a new one (Sound Blaster X7) which supports ASIO.
For now I got it set up using ASIO4LL at 96 kHz 3072 smp because if I try to change the A1 device from ASIO4ALL to Creative Sound Blaster ASIO Device, Voicemeeter Banana freezes immediately.
I tried closing the Creative software before switching to the ASIO driver in case it would interfere but no luck.
Thanks in advance for your help.

3072 sample buffer is not recommend for Voicemeeter (we recommend 256 to 1024 sample buffer size for the main stream : output A1 device).
you problem sounds like and audio device/interface confict, check that your Sound Blaster device is not used by another application / process.

Re: Switching to ASIO driver causes Voicemeeter Banana to freeze
I meant 96 kHz 3072 smp for the internal configuration via the Virtual IO Control Panel. Correct me if I'm wrong but I set it like that because I observed b128, b256 and b512 being utilized in that same control panel so I read that the next buffer should be taken and multiplied by 3 to obtain the proper internal smp. Buffering ASIO is set to 128 in the Voicemeeter settings though.
I will try to investigate further and see if there is a conflict with the audio device but in the meantime I have a new question regarding 5.1 (cf. attached image). For my device the speakers are at the rear and for Voicemeeter the speakers are at the side. Is there any way to be able to check the proper box in order to have the same speaker configuration as my device? I'm afraid surround won't work properly otherwise.

Well, I couldn't find any process that would be using the device. I hope we can find a solution.
Any advice regarding the surround question? Thanks for your help.

Re: Switching to ASIO driver causes Voicemeeter Banana to freeze
I finally got it to not crash. The issue was bad configuration, because with ASIO4ALL I had set the ASIO buffering in the Voicemeeter settings page to the minimum 128. When I set it to default, it finally worked, showing buffering set 960 in Voicemeeter, but I would like to keep latency to a minimum.
It seems I can't access the Creative Sound Blaster ASIO control panel (cf. attached picture) using Voicemeeter but I was able to using another program (REAPER) and I could set the latency down to 1ms, which then showed as 96 in Voicemeeter. I will ask Creative if there is a way to access this control panel directly because I dug in Windows files, where CtUsAs64.DLL and CtUsAsio.DLL are located (libraries for the ASIO driver) but I could not find an executable related to it.
So I could finally set the Creative Sound Blaster ASIO Device to A1 but now I have a new problem: the channels are mixed together. FL and FR seem okay but FC seems to also be on FL, LF seems to be on FR and finally both BL and BR seem to be on FC.
I would really appreciate if you could help me with this, Vincent. Thanks in advance.

cannot help if i cannot see the complete audio path.
Voicemeeter virtual input can be set in 7.1 mode instead of 5.1 to let you select rear setup maybe..

Thanks for helping me. How can I show you the complete audio path? All I'm doing is separating game audio and discord communications.

Here is the screenshot you requested:
Please let me know if I set anything wrong and how to solve the 5.1 channels being mixed up.
Also regarding 5.1, I found this thread: viewtopic.php?t=491#p1276
Thanks for your help.

I can confirm this but could it have any negative impact on the surround virtualization effect?Yaun wrote:When I set to 5.1 it seems the audio is played by the correct speakers (BR, BL). I think it's only shown the wrong way in Windows Sound

Re: Switching to ASIO driver causes Voicemeeter Banana to freeze
96 samples buffer at 96 kHz is susrely too small to warrant a stable stream.
you may tweak your ASIO device control panel to get around 256 or 512 samples buffer size on your output A1 device = main voicemeeter stream
